Of course I had to reread the prequel before starting on this, and it was good to be reminded what a great fix-it that is. I really like this as well, despite Ianto's eventual and inevitable death. Well, I don't generally have a whole lot of life-altering trauma over the death of fictional characters, no matter how sad I may feel at the time. (They're fictional! I can bring them back to life whenever I want!) That being said, I found myself speculating about who Williams was and why the security level was so high when the Red Alpha humanoid came through the Rift, and whether it wasn't possible to finesse another timey-wimey escape for our favourite Welshman.
Have you read Freakangels (http://www.freakangels.com/)?* What we know so far of their backstory (inspired by The Midwich Cuckoos) sounds rather like the origins of Ianto's powers. Even if there's no way to engineer an escape for him without ending the universe, I'd love to see his powers explored in further fics from you. After all, Ianto is young, and so is the 21st Century.
*Warning, warning: severe danger of uncontrollable Archive Bingeing.
